The classic adage “it’s better to give” rings especially true for one of our partners’ “Hunger: Not Impossible” project this holiday season. Not Impossible Labs and a leading retailer set out to simply address a complex issue: the rampant struggle for people facing housing insecurity to easily obtain fresh and healthy food. Recognizing that 50 to 60 percent of homeless youth and veterans own cell phones, they pulled in West and other technology companies to help support a modern SMS/text messaging solution that reaches them wherever they are.
Hunger: Not Impossible (HNI) empowers hungry citizens to send SMS/text messages like “HELP” and “STOP” to receive information about where to get their next meal. They’re currently piloting the project in Northwest Arkansas. Read more about how HNI is making a difference here.
Determined to have the program available to hungry people by Thanksgiving, Not Impossible Labs collaborated with the established retail brand and a number of communication technology companies to get a viable solution up and running just two weeks after conception. Thanks to the retail partner’s funding, Not Impossible Labs was able to work with West to secure the necessary SMS short-codes for the program’s success. We proudly maintain the gateway through which Not Impossible Labs exchanges text messages with those in need, and will provide routine keyword reporting for ongoing program optimization through June 2017.
The deep commitment to making impactful connections with everyday people that’s shared by Not Impossible Labs, West and others is sure to help this pilot thrive and strengthen HNI’s reach across the U.S. We’re ready to work together to extend this holiday’s giving spirit across the entirety of the new year.
