911 Enable’s ERS has completed interoperability testing with Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs. This testing ensures that critical 911 calls and caller information can reach the ERS for routing to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) via Acme Packet SBCs, without compromising the integrity and security of the communications network. One of these resellers is GTRI (Global Technology Resources, Inc.), a leading network consulting firm that provides solutions for data centers, unified communications, wireless/mobility and more. GTRI works closely with their customers to help them reach their business goals, and needed to find an E911 solution for their customers with minimal administration requirements, real-time address validation and provisioning capabilities, and on-site security desk routing and notification features. The solution also had to help their customers meet E911 legislation requirements, and be certified with Cisco. GRTI decided to partner with 911 Enable to provide E911 solutions for their customers that they could stand behind with confidence.

Two new resources are available that provide additional information on two components of our Emergency Gateway (EGW) appliance.
Remote Location Manager Feature Brief – The Remote Location Manager (RLM) allows off-campus users to self-provision their locations in real-time, ensuring that should they need to dial 911, the call and their up-to-date location information will be sent to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The RLM is available for Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Avaya Communications Manager, and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 deployments.
E911 Softphone Locator Data Sheet – The E911 Softphone Locator (ESL) is software that allows the EGW to automatically track the location of on-campus soft phones. It also enables E911 support for many advanced unified communications features such as shared line appearance, extension mobility, concurrent logins, and shared workspaces.
New developments in the Cisco space!
First, 911 Enable has completed interoperability verification testing with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.5. This ensures that organizations using this latest version of UCM can count on 911 Enable’s Emergency Gateway for seamless E911 support – automatic IP phone tracking, security desk routing and notification, and reporting and management functions. To learn more, read the press release here.
Second, 911 Enable recently released a new white paper that compares the capabilities of Cisco Emergency Responder with 911 Enable’s Emergency Gateway. This white paper is a useful tool for organizations using Cisco UCM who are evaluating E911 management systems – it breaks down what each system can support, so organizations can make sure they select an E911 management system that meets their precise requirements. You can download the white paper here.
Finally, 911 Enable will be exhibiting in Booth 1170 at Cisco Live 2011. Do you work in California or Michigan? Or does your company have offices in either state? New E911 legislation is pending that will affect your VoIP/UC deployment. To help simplify this often complex and confusing subject, 911 Enable is hosting two webinars, one regarding the proposed California state legislation, and another on the pending Michigan state legislation. We’ve also put together 2 white papers that summarize the proposed legislation and explain how we can help you meet these new regulations. More information can be found here.
When organizations are looking for an E911 solution, two of the most common features they require are automatic IP phone discovery and security desk routing and notification. 911 Enable helps organizations implement these E911 capabilities, with advanced E911 functionality that is unique in the industry. To explain what sets our E911 functionality apart from the competition, we’ve created two feature briefs that highlight how we provide these capabilities and the precise characteristics of each.
